As soon as Gulliver steps on to the floating island, he is surrounded by a crowd of people. He finds them very strange even though they were of a size similar to his. Gulliver learns that he is on Laputa. The people out their have terribly short attention spans, so they carry around Flappers. Gulliver also learns their language. He also learns that the houses of the lilliputians are also built very poorly. They are also constantly worried about the sun going out. The women cheat their husbands. The husbands so engrossed in mathematics, rarely notice such things. The King is also not a good ruler. So finally Gulliver requests to go down to Balnibarbi.
