The lymphatic system has multiple interrelated functions: It is responsible for the removal of interstitial fluid from tissues. It absorbs and transports fatty acids and fats as chyle from the digestive system. It transports white blood cells to and from the lymph nodes into the bones.

Explanation:

The lymphatic system  is a additional route of circulation. This system gathers interstitial fluid and returns it to cardiovascular system. The lymphatic system consists of lymphatic vessel and lymphoid organs. The lymphatic system gathers liquid from the from the body and returns it into the cardiovascular circulation. Lymph capillaries gather up fluids and carry them through a series of progressively larger vessels to  two large lymphatic vessels. The lymphatic vessels contain valves that permits unidirectional flow of lymph. Finally these two lymphatic vessels drain into veins. The lymph is not pumped by heart but its movent is brought about by squeezing of lymphatic vessels by movement of body muscles.
