Mother goddess: The most commonly found figurine is that of a female deity who has generally been identified with “the Mother Goddess”

No temple: The Papal tree was used as a religious symbol. They worshipped Pasupathi (Shiva) and Mother Goddess Mother Goddess represented fertility. There are no temple structures among the remains.

Female diety: Marshall hypothesized the existence of a cult of Mother Goddess worship based upon excavation of several female figurines and thought that this was a precursor of the Hindu sect of Shaktism
