Answer:

The " Tripartite Struggle" took place between The Gurjara Prathiharas of the Rajasthan, The Palas of Bengal & Bihar and The Rashtrakutas of the Karnataka for occupying the Kannauj kingdom. The Kannauj kingdom was located in the north and was ruled by Yashovarman in in 730 AD. After Yashovarman three kings Vijrayudha, Indrayudha and Chakrayudha ruled the kingdom from the end of 8th century to a few years in the beginning of 9th century.

By noticing the weakness of the rulers the Palas, Prathiharas and the Rashtrakutas led a battle against the kannauj kingdom to occupy it. the three kingdoms fought for upto two centuries. Finally " Nagabhata 2" of the Gurjara Prathihara kingdom won the battle and successfully made kannauj the capital of Gurjara Prathihara kingdom.
