In India the cold season last from November to February.
a) Temperature:
The sun is overhead at the Tropic of Capricorn. The Indian subcontinent has winter season. January is the coldest month. The southern part have warm conditions(20°C) while low temperature(10°C) are found in North West India and the trans Himalayan region of Jammu and Kashmir, which are the coldest part of India .The minimum temperature of - 40 ° C are recorded at Dras or Kargil (Ladakh).

b) Major characteristics: 
Clear Sky , warm days, cool Nights , snowfall at high altitudes and Frost in the north.

c) Pressure and winds:
High pressure develops over Northwest part while low pressure exists over the Indian ocean . As a result wind blow from land to sea over most parts of the country and do not cause much rainfall.
d) RAINFALL:
The North East monsoon being Offshore winds are dry. But these Winds pick up some moisture by crossing the Bay of Bengal and deliver rain in to the south east coast of India. Some cyclones from the meditarian Sea causes rainfall( 10-20 CM ) on the northern plains.Leh receive snowfall.

Cold season is known as winter season. It begins in november and ends in february. December and January are the coldest months. In this two months there is snowfall in many regions of the world. Days are warm and nights are cold. Nights are longer than days. Rainfall is less in this season. Cultivation of rabi crops is done.
