Explanation:

Pour some water in measuring cylinder and record the level of water from the graduated marked on its wall. Tie the string around th stone and lower it into the cylinder gently without touching its wall,until it completely immersed. The level of the water in the cylinder rises. Note down the level of the water in the cylinder again.

INITIAL LEVEL=V1

FINAL LEVEL=V2

Volume of the stone is difference between the final and the intial readings that is V2-V1
