Let the length of the rectangle be x and the breadth of the rectangle be y.

The perimeter of the rectangle = 2(x+y) = 2x+2y

The area of the rectangle = x×y = xy

According to the question,

2x+2y-xy = 20

or,

xy-2x-2y = 20

You can also write the equation as |2(x+y)-xy| = 20

the area of rectangle is: l*b

the perimeter of rectangle is:2(l+b)

their difference is 20

so the equation is

l*b+/-20= 2( l+b)
