Answer:

Here is your answer ↓.

Step-by-step explanation:

EXPERIMENT:

Aim:

To study the reaction berween copper sulphate solution and iron nail.

Materials Required:

Test tube, test tube stand, iron nail, copper sulphate solution.

Theory:

When iron nail is kept in copper sulphate solution, displacement reaction takes place. During a

displacement reaction, a more reactive metal displaces the less reactive metal from its salt solution.

Procedure:

* Take a copper sulphate solution in test tube.

* Dip an iron nail in the copper sulphate solution. * Keep the set up undisturbed for some time.

Observation:

After some time (say about 30 minutes), the colour of the copper sulphate solution changes to green from blue and a brown colour deposit of copper is seen on the iron nail.

Conclusion:

Iron displaces copper from copper sulphate solution. This shows that iron is more reactive than copper. The reaction taking place between iron and copper sulphate solution is represented as follows:

Fe + CuSO⁴↓

Iron (grey) Copper sulphate (blue)

→→→FeSO⁴↓ + Cu

Ferrous Sulphate (green) Copper (brown)
