 Trees are very important in our life. We simply cannot do without them. We depend on trees for timber, paper, train compartments, boats and vessels, boxes, tools and implements, and many other things. Without paper, civilized life would be impossible. People in villages cook their meals with firewood, which they get from trees. They also use wood for constructing huts, bullock-carts, plough and different kinds of tools and agricultural implements. Some trees have medicinal value also. 

  Trees add to the charm beauty of a place. Rabindranath Tagore set up his shanti-niketan in the midst of grove of trees. Shalimar and pinjore owe the trees for their beauty.
 
  Today, Environmental pollution has become an alarming problem. Trees help a lot in environmental improvement. They cause rainfall. They protect our social and water resources under the ground. They prevent floods and droughts. Above all, they purify the atmosphere by absorbing carbon dioxide and giving out oxygen.
  
  It is need of the hour to launch a nation-wide program for growing more trees. Community forests should be created for groups of villages on village common land. Efforts should be made to make uncultivated waste-land green.

Pants and trees are intimately connected with our life and well being. It boons and benefits derived from them are too many to count. They provide food, fruit, shelters, Medicine, fodder, wood, timber, oxygen; check-soil erosion, pollution and food. They also check effectively the spread of the desert and landslides. They are essential to maintain ecological balance and prevention of fauna."Plant more trees" should not remain a mere slogan but become a religion and Creed with all to us. We all should plant and grow more and more trees, and protect them. Social forestry should be taken on a large scale, and trees grown all around where there is space to them. Trees add to the quality to our life and living. Without trees and first there-world be deserts and desolation around us.
