Lyophobic colloids are the colloidal solution in which the dispersed phase has very little affinity for the dispersion medium. The solution of this colloid is known as lyophobic sol and cannot be directly prepared. They are prepared by special methods.

 \small\bold{\color{orange}{{In \: Scientific \: Language}}}

Lyophobic colloids are liquid heating colloids (Lyo means solvent and phobic means hating). When these colloids are mixed with the suitable liquid, a very weak force of attraction exists between colloidal particles and liquid and system does not pass into colloidal state readily.

Gelatin, starch, sulphur and gum .
