Motion and Rest are RELATIVE terms.

It means an object which appears to be moving , can be at rest with respect to some observer.

Every object is said to be in motion, if it changes it position with respect to time and surroundings ( observer)

1. Driver of a moving bus is in state of motion with respect to a observer on road and driver will be at rest with respect to passengers travelling in bus.

2.A girl swinging in garden is in motion with respect to surroundings like people walking in garden. But girl will be at rest with respect to seat of swing.

1. When the earth revolves and rotates we (organisms on earth) think it is stationary. At the same time, in the perspective of an astronaut in space, earth is in motion.

2. When a train moves, according to the passenger seated inside the trees outside are in motion while according to an observer, the trees are stationary.
