The full form of IUDs is Intrauterine Contraceptive Devices.These are used by females for preventing fertilization. They are the devices made of plastics , metal or a combination of the two which when inserted into uterus prevent insemination by destroying sperm and block the fallopian tube . there are many types of IUDs like - loops,spiral,rings,bows,Ts etc. The most common type is copper t which provide ionised copper for preventing implantation which can be used in a time period of 3-5 years.
