Fumin nitric acid ko

Most commercially available nitric acid has a concentration of 68% in water. When the solution contains more than 86% HNO3, Depending on the amount of nitroginous oxide present, fuming nitric acid is further characterized as white nd red nitric acid. at concentrations above 95%.

Hey !!

Depending upon the concentration, HNO₃ reacts with metals to give different oxidation products. With dil. HNO₃.NO is formed while with concentration HNO₃.NO₂ is formed.

Example :-

                   3 Cu + 8 HNO₃ (dil) ------> 3 Cu(NO₃)₂ + 2 NO + 4 H₂O

                  Cu + 4 HNO₃ (conc.) -------> Cu(NO₃)₂ + 2 NO₂ + 2 H₂O

GOOD LUCK !!
