In a chemical reaction, the reactants react to produce new substance. and this is known as chemical change where chemical reaction involves since we can't get it back.

basically all State changes are physical changes since no chemical reaction is involved and no new substance is formed. there's only change in shape, size and position.

examples are :-

⏺ evaporation - during evaporation, the liquid changes it's state to gaseous form. there is no chemical reaction involved. we can get back the liquid form by the process of condensation.

⏹ melting of ice or freezing of water - it's also a physical change and no chemical reaction is involved. when we melt ice, it just changes it's state and we can freeze it again to get back the ice.

similarly, melting of candle is also an example where there's change in state without the involvement of chemical reaction.
