Characteristic X-rays are emitted when outer-shell electrons fill a vacancy in the inner shell of an atom, releasing X-rays in a pattern that is "characteristic" to each element. Characteristic X-rays were discovered by Charles Glover Barkla in 1909,[1] who later won the Nobel Prize in Physics for his discovery in 1917.Characteristic X-rays are produced when an element is bombarded with high-energy particles, which can be photons, electrons or ions (such as protons).

Wilhelm Conrad Rontgen was a German mechanical engineer and physicist who produced and detected electromagnetic energy waves that act similarly to light rays known as X-rays on 8th November 1895 Wilhelm Conrad Rontgen produced and detected.
Wilhelm Conrad Rontgen becomes the first person to discover X-rays and that would eventually profit a variety of fields, most of all medicine, by making the invisible visible. This discovery was considered a medical miracle and X-rays soon became an important diagnostic apparatus in medicine.
Wilhelm Conrad Rontgen awarded many accolades for his invention, as well as the first Nobel Prize in physics in 1901. Today, X-ray is widely used technology in medicine.
