The blanks will be filled as follows-------

1. Blue is the 5th colour in the rainbow.
2. Violet is the 7th colour in the rainbow.
3. Indigo is the 6th colour in the rainbow.
4. Red is the 1st (topmost) colour in the rainbow.

We often remember the series of rainbow colours by the short term 'VIBGYOR' and so pretend violet to be the 1st, indigo to be the second and so on. But here the colour red appears at the top of the rainbow followed by orange and so on. Therefore the rainbow colours are in the series as--
1. Red
2. Orange
3. Yellow
4. Green
5. Blue
6. Indigo
7. Violet

The colour series can also be remembered by the mnemonic Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain (ROYGBIV).

Echo: Actually, we read the colors of the rainbow as VIBGYOR. Red is the fastest travelling color, so we see red first, which is why we write red first. But the order we read the colors is VIBGYOR, so the answer is correct : )
