the work done per unit charge in moving a unit positive charge from one point to another is called potential differece.

SAK9: thnx
SAK9: but against the electric field of another charge or simply to say against the electric field?
luckycharm: its the correct definition
SAK9: ok

Potential difference between two points A and B is the work done when a unit positive charge is moved from A to B in an electric field.

Potential difference between two points is the difference of the electrostatic potential energy of a unit positive charge between the two points.
