Lanthanides are the Rare-Earth elements. They are a group of elements from Lanthanum (Atomic number 57) to Lutetium (Atomic number 71). So, there are 15 elements in the Lanthanide Series. Each element in the Lanthanide Series has a valency of +3. But some of the elements in the Lanthanide series have multiple possible valencies (ranging from +2 to+4) including the valency of +3. The Lanthanides are not found in large quantities and are expensive. All the elements of the Lanthanide Series arefound naturally, excluding Promethium.
