1 ) Masulipatnam, also known as Machilipatnam ( fish port town) lay on the delta of River Krishna, in the State of Andhra Pradesh

2) It is an important center of trade as well as crafts like fabrics, jewellery etc

3) The fort at Masulipatnam was built by the Dutch and the port has a medium size fishing harbor which always bustled with activity

4) It was also an important educational centre and hence, it proved to be a center of trade during medieval period

5) Competition among different trade groups like Telugu Chettis, European traders made the city of Masulipatnam prosperous and popular and trade flourished during 17th century
