Differences

Meristematic tissues

1. Cells are small, and undifferentiated.

2. Cells may be rounded, oval or polyonal.

3. intercellular spaces are absent..

4.vacuoles are either absent or small......

Permanent tissues

1.cells are large and differentiated to perform different functions.

2.cells are of different shapes according to the type of permanent tissues.

3.intercellular spaces are often present...

4. A large, central vacuole is usually present...

Explanation:

At first both of these tissues are related to plants. I am giving the answer one by one

1.MERISTEMATIC TISSUES---

a.These tissues are very active in nature

b.cells are round or oval in shape with no intracellular spaces and no or less vacuole.

c.these tissues are in living state with dense cytoplasm and thin cell wall (composed of cellulose)

d.these tissues always divide to form new tissues

e.Because of its function related to dividing these are present in regions like apices of roots and shoot as apical meristem, as intercalary meristem in nodes and internodal region and as lateral meristem also.

f. Its main function is to increase girth and growth (perhaps completes primary growth of plant and exists from the embryo stage)

2.permanent tissues ----

a.these tissues are less active (as in parenchyma) perhaps dead (as in collenchyma and scelenchyma)

b.these cells are polygonal in shape with intracellular space sometimes filled with lignin or pectin.

these tissues are in large numbers in plants and are found in almost all plants (any part of plant you think contain permanent tissues)

c.their functions are related to storage, providing mechanical support, conduction, coverage, providing turgidity
