Thermoplastics and thermosetting plastics are two separate classes of polymers, which are differentiated based on their behavior in the presence of heat. The primary physical difference is that thermoplastics can be remelted back into a liquid, whereas thermoset plastics always remain in a permanent solid state. Thermoplastic materials have low melting points, whereas thermosetting plastic can yield products that withstand high temperatures without losing austerity.

thermoplastic--- they are linear or slightly branched polymers. soften on heating and harden on cooling.intermolecular forces are intermediate between elastomers and fibres. They can be reused.eg.polythene
Thermosetting-- they are cross linked or heavily branched polymers.on heating they undergo extensive cross linking in moulds and again become infusible. They cannot be reused.eg.bakelite
