Continental drift IS happening cause we are getting 1 centimeter away from Europe. All of this is due to the convection currents under the earth's crust. This was a good theory by Alfred Wegener  , but back then no one believed it. Now we have the background of Plate Tectonics, Sea Floor Spreading, which helps us understand the movement of the plates and the different plate boundaries.
