Explanation:

Debate is a process that involves discussion on a particular topic.

In a debate there is either two separate group of people or just two individuals.

Any one of the person is either for the particular topic or against the topic. Let's say the topic is about reduction of watching mobile phones.

So the person who is saying "FOR" the topic is supposed to talk about the benefits or favor of the topic.

Example: "Although mobiles are harmful to health, we can use them limitedly and the internet could also help us clear our doubts"

The person who is saying "AGAINST" the topic is supposed to say the disadvantages of the topic which is not a favor of the topic given

Example: "Then think about some of the people who are highly addicted to mobile phones. We should not only think of those who study well."

DEBATE TIPS:

To perform well on a debate, whether you are for or against the topic, you can follow these steps:-

  • First of all decide a position you will fell capable for arguing
  • Begin your debate by clearly stating a brief statement of your position and reason for supporting it.
  • Give the debate points in an order, don't make it too random
  • Always be on point of topic, never go off topic
  • Listen to your opponent carefully
  • Mention the strongest points you know.
  • If you really think that you cannot argue with the point, divert the opponent to the previous point.
