if a ball is thrown in upwards direction, its displacement would be in upwards direction but the force due to earth’s gravity is in the downward direction.
pulling a bucket of water from well. You apply the force downwards on the rope, but the displacement of the bucket is upward.

The examples are:

1)when we throw a ball on the rough surface the frictional force will act opposite to the motion of ball(displacement of the body)

2)while pulling the bucket of water from the well we will pull the rope downwards but the bucket displacement is in upward direction.

3)when we throw a ball upwards the ball displacement is in upward direction but gravitational force is acting in the downward direction.

4)when we try to stop the sliding car on an inclined road. The displacement of the car is in downward direction but the force applied by us is in opposite direction.
