•Distance is a scalar quantity while displacement is a vector quantity.

•Displacement depends on direction but distance does not depend on direction.

•Displacement can be negative or positive but distance is always positive.

•Displacement is denoted by m toward east/west/south/north(given direction) whereas distance is denoted by m.
