Every form of electromagnetic radiation, including visible light, oscillates in a periodic fashion with peaks and valleys, and displaying a characteristic amplitude, wavelength, and frequency that defines the direction, energy, and intensity of the radiation.

following are the four properties of electromagnetic waves:
1# Maxwell’s formulation of electromagnetic radiation leads to a mathematically smooth
wave kineticism of fields. However, at very short wavelengths, it fails to account for certain
paramount phenomena that occur when the wave interacts with matter. In this case, a
quantum description is more congruous.

2# it can travel I'm Vacuum also. no medium is required for
propagation

3# it travels with a definite speed in vacuum that is 3*10^8m/s

4# The energy of these waves depends on their frequency. Low-frequency waves have low energy
and are normally harmless. High-frequency waves have a huge amount of energy and are potentially harmful.
