The hypothalamus have a number of centers that control temperature of the body, urge for drinking and eating.
Hypothalamus also contains various groups of neurosecretory cells, which secrete several hormones.These hormones are called hypothalamic hormones.
It is connected with brain stem and maintains the homeostasis.
Hypothalamus is only about 4 gm in weight but highly vasculaised.
