On the basis of some observations, Hugo DE-varies  put forward a theory of evolution, called mutation theory.

The theory states that evolution is a  process where new varieties and species are formed by mutations  which is discontinuous variations. It functions as raw material of evolution.

Living organisms can develop changes to their genes that greatly alter the organism. These changes are passed down to the next generation, and lead to the development of new species.
