Question:-

The mean of 4,y,9,5,2,7 is 5.

What is the value of y.

Given:-

Mean of 4,y,9,5,2,7 is 5.

To Find:-

The value of y.

Answer:-

Here, the number of terms is 6.

We know that,

Mean = Sum of all the terms / Number of terms

=> 5 = (4+y+9+5+2+7)/6

=> 5 = (27+y)/6

=> 5 x 6 = 27+y

=> 27+y = 30

=> y = 30-27

=> y = 3

Therefore,value of y is 3.
