Question:-In the given figure pulley is moving with an acceleration a0 in upward direction, acceleration of blockA with respect to the pulley is

Solution:-

let the tension in the string be T,

considering that block of mass m is moving upward....

let the acceleration of this block be a1

clearly we can say

a1=a+a0...(where a is acceleration of blockA uf the pulley doesn't move upward)......i)

similarly

let the acceleration of blockB be a2

a2=a0-a.......ii)

now,

T-mg=m(a+a0).....iii)

T-2mg=2m(a0-a).....iv)

subtracting equation iv) from iii) we get

mg=3ma-ma0

g=3a-a0

a0=3a-g

a=(a0+g)/3

Hence acceleration of blockA with respect to the pulley is(a0+g)/3

so,option1 is correct
