If you have an interest to make yourself better, no one can stop you from that, and you have already taken an excellent step trying to strive for better. However, I suggest you follow these tips:
(i) Make a time table. Time tables are really helpful if you have a problem in time management. However, they don't always help. Whenever you sit to study, make a fresh time table. Look at the amount of homework given, and try to finish it first. After that, revise the topics you have covered during the day.
(ii) Take breaks. Don't stress yourself. You need to stay calm and focus, and if you get too tired, you will get distracted. If you are distracted, then try to close your book and enjoy for a while. Take a short break and resume your studies after that.
(iii) Have nibs of snacks. Your mind gets distracted when the word 'food' pops in. Don't try to restrict yourself, stay free. Having small nibs of snacks in between won't harm much. You will feel rewarded and will have the heart to continue.
(iv) Doodle your topics. When you are studying something, you may have the habit of drawing rough and silly drawings related to it. This is actually helpful. When you later see them, you may understand it easily.
(v) Take down notes. While your teacher is explaining something, after listening to her properly, take down notes. Write it in a simple language and format which you can review later and it can help in your exams too.
