Anne Sullivan, Annie, is the person responsible for "the most important day I remember in all my life" (ch 5) as Helen recognizes Annie's contribution throughout her life as teacher, interpreter, friend, companion and motivator. Annie never misses an opportunity to teach Helen, whether it be academically or life skills. She teaches Helen an appreciation in even the smallest detail: "in every blade of grass, and in the curves and dimples of my baby sister's hand."(ch 5) Annie has the capacity to help Helen connect with nature and "made me feel that 'birds and flowers and I were happy peers.'"

Miss Anne Sullivan was helen's instructor(teacher). She was sent to teach Helen from perkins institute for the blind.as a teacher she was patient and tolerant towards Helen.She knew the problems of children without hearing and sight. She handled Helen sensitively but firmly when she got frustrated into tantrums. miss Anne Sullivan dealt with each incident in a practical way. She knew that was Helen wanted and accordingly taught her to communicate with others and made Helen confident by making her self dependent.



A teacher like her was not only the guiding force but also a true friend companion and the mother like figure for Helen.MS elements selfless nature dedication and determination matured with Helen eagerness to learn.These were the reasons to Helen's wonderful achievements.
