( a ) The carts with rubber tyres are easier to ply than those with iron wheels because the coefficient of friction between rubber and concrete is less than in between iron and the road.
( b ) When brakes are on, there is no rolling of the wheels and the wheels slide. The sliding friction is greater than the rolling friction. Thus it is difficult to move a cycle along the road with its breaks on.
( c ) sand is thrown on roads covered with snow because when the tracks/ roads are covered with snow there is a reduction of friction between the tires of the vehicles and the road and during this situation it is dangerous to drive
