Bimbisara also known as Seniya or Shrenika in the Jain histories was a King of Magadha and belonged to the Haryanka dynasty. He was the son of Bhattiya.

Bimbisara was the most important ruler of Magadha. He made Rajgriha his capital. He expanded the kingdom by conquest and marrying princesses of very powerful kingdoms such as Madra,Kosala,Avanti. Bimbisara conquered Anga which had a river port called Champa. Which helped Magadha in earning high profits from trade.
