Unisexual: Papaya
Bisexual: Hibiscus
- When pollen grain falls and sticks to the stigma it divides into sperm nucleus and tube nucleus. the tube nucleus enters the style and forms a tube through which the male germ cell (sperm nucleus) travels.
- During ths travel the male germ cell undergoes a division and forms two male germ cells. the tube then reaches the ovule and enters it through the bottom and the tube nucleus is degenerated.
- One male germ cell fuses with the egg cell in the ovule to form the seed, and the other male germ cell fuses with two female gamete cells in the middle of the ovule to form the endosperm. As there are two fertilisations taking place this process is also known as Double Fertilisation.
