A decomposition reaction starts from a single substance and produces more than one substance; that is, it decomposes. One substance as a reactant and more than one substance as the products is the key characteristic of a decomposition reaction. For example, in the decomposition of sodium hydrokgen carbonate (also known as sodium bicarbonate),

2 NaHCO3(s) → Na2CO3(s) + CO2(g) + H2O(ℓ)

sodium carbonate, carbon dioxide, and water are produced from the single substance sodium hydrogen carbonate.

Single Displacement Reactions

Single displacement reactions are reactions where one reactant replaces part of the other.

AB + C → AC + B

An example is the reaction between iron and copper sulfate to produce iron sulfate and copper:

Fe + CuSO4 → FeSO4 + Cu

A combination reaction is a general category of chemical reactions. It may be defined as a chemical reaction in which two or more substances combine to form a single substance under suitable conditions.Combination reactions are also known as synthesis, because in thesereactions new substances are synthesized.

reaction where two or more elements combine to form a single substance this is known as combination reaction .......
reaction wear single substance split into two or more substance this is known as displacement reaction ......the displacement reaction are of three types 1. photolysis decomposition 2. electrolytic decomposition 3.thermal decomposition .....displacement reactions are reaction where one element displaces another element from its compound it is mostly in metals where a strong metal displaces a weak metal from its solution ..............1 combination Mg + O2 = MgO. 2. decomposition H2O = H2 +O2. 3. displacement Al + Fe2O3 = Al2O3 + Fe
