Squamous epithelium : layer(s) of flat cells .(a single celled one - in case of simple squamous )

being single celled layer , it is permeable to small molecules to pass through by the processes like diffusion .

and thus have obvious locations like capillaries , alveoli , glomerulus .

Columnar epithelium : layer(s) of cuboidal cells . cilia may or may not be present .simple ones play a role in secretion, absorption, immunity, fertility, digestion and respiration

ciliated : respiratory tract , Fallopian tubes , uterus

non ciliated : gastrointestinal tract

Epithelial tissue perform number of functions such as protection against radiation damage, abrasion, chemical stress and invasion by pathogens.

Squamous Epithelium: These are type of epithelial cells which are thin, flat and are closely packed. It is found in the cavities of oesophagus, mouth, blood vessels and mouth. It protect the tissue from mechanical injury or damage and prevent the entry of germs.
