Lithium Hydride is widely used in preparation of LiAlH4, a powerful reducing agent used in organic synthesis (stronger than NaBH4 and far more violent - it even reacts with water to produce LiOH).
It can be also used to generate H2 (gas) and SiH4 (Silane) - by letting it react with SiCl4. Be careful with LiH as the reaction may end up in violence. Hydrides are sometimes so dangerous.
LiH seems to be used in synthesis of complex ligands too, but I haven’t studied enough to write about it. It seems to have an important role in those. Maybe some expert in organic chemistry (esp. organometallics) can even react with humid air - making them dangerous than sodium which can safely be suspended in kerosene/paraffin.
