The reaction between Concentrated Nitric acid and iodine involves oxidation of iodine.

The equation is given below:

10HNO₃ + I₂ -----------> 2HIO₃ +  10HO₂  +  4H₂O

Concentrated Nitric acid oxidizes Iodine to form HIO₃

The oxidation power of Nitric acid will always depend on its concentration.

With dilute Nitric acid the gas evolved would have been NO.

Since it is concentrated NO₂ is evolved.

The answer to our question is therefore :

HIO₃
