1. The wall at the base of the dam is made wider

Answer:

1) By the relation, pressure is directly proportional to height of the liquid, we know that liquid pressure increases with increase in depth of liquid. Hence, to withstand the enoromous pressure exerted on the dam, dams are made wider at the base.

2) As ice has less density than of water so, it floats on water.
