Give reason:
(a) CH3CI does not conduct electricity.

(a) Carbon tetrachloride is made up of individual covalently bonded molecules, CCl4. Therefore the electrons cannot flow and there are no ions. It does not conduct in any state.

(b) Carbon is the only element that can form so many different compounds because each carbon atom can form four chemical bonds to other atoms and because the carbon atom is just the right, small size to fit in comfortably as parts of very large molecules.
