Generally, naphthalene balls are kept in the boxes in which woollen clothes are stored during summers.Since temperature is quite high during summers, naphthalene balls slowly convert into vapour without passing through liquid state. The process of conversion of a solid into vapour without converting into liquid state is called sublimation. These are germicidal in nature, so, they kill germs and bacteria which are likely to damage these clothes.
or simply
Naphthalene balls undergo sublimation due to which it converts directly into vapours and disappear into air without leaving any solid.
