Give reason a sharp pin can be easily put into ( hammered) wood?

As surface area of the edge of a sharp pin is very less and so the pressure exerted by it on wood on hammering it is very large and so it easily pierces the wood. Whereas blunt pin has more surface area and so pressure exerted is less.
