There are following properties of that makes it a good solvent to use for recording NMR spectrum
- Most of the organic compounds are dissolved in it.
- It can be easily separated from compound after dissolving that as it is volatile in nature so can be easily evaporated.
- Due to presence of non-hydrogen atom it did not interfere in the determination of NMR spectrum.
- As it is a deuterated solvents so its peak can be easily identified in NMR with reference scale TMS.
