There are following properties of CDCl_{3} that makes it a good solvent to use for recording NMR spectrum

  1. Most of the organic compounds are dissolved in it.
  2. It can be easily separated from compound after dissolving that as it is volatile in nature so can be easily evaporated.
  3. Due  to presence of non-hydrogen atom it did not interfere in the determination of NMR spectrum.
  4. As it is a deuterated solvents so its peak  can be easily identified in NMR with reference scale TMS.
