Give reason for the statement, “The value of g is greater at the poles than at the equator.”

Answer:

The radius of the earth R increases when we go from the poles to the equator. Hence, the value of ' g 'decreases because value 'g' is inversely proportional. As R increases value of 'g' decreases because G and M are constant.
