The particles in a liquid are closer than the particles in gases. In liquid, when heat is distributed, the particles are able to bombard with each other, transferring heat energy as they vibrate more vigorously. In gases, the particles are much further apart and the particles bombard each other less frequently, thus making heat transfer less prominent.
