give reason magnesium oxide is harder than calcium oxide why ​

MgO and CaO, both have the same anion that is the oxide ion (O2-). Now the cations in both the salts are different. As Magnesium ion is smaller than the calcium ion, therefore the charge in case of Mg+2 ion is more than the Ca+2 ion
