The process that takes place is sublimation that is solid directly gets converted into vapour without entering the liquid phase.
This is mainly due to the structure of naphthalene that this happens

1) Naphthalene balls disappear with time without leaving any relucent or remnants because... due to Sublimation process.

2) Tho... in this process solid directly converts into gaseous state.
