Well, usually the stone fall towards the Earth and not the Earth towards the stone. This is because of force of gravity or gravitational force. It attracts everything towards it. As the Earth have more mass than the stone, so it attracts the stone to itself. Greater the mass, greater will be the force of gravitation.
