it is because Himalayas lie in the Northern Hemisphere. During winters, the sun is always towards the South and the northern facing parts of any mountains are in shadow. Since the southern slope of the Himalayas faces sun most of the time, its snow melts more quickly than the north facing slopes .

It melts more quickly because the north side is having less sunlight while on Himalayas
